Feldenkrais workshops provide a deeper immersion into a particular theme than a regular class can offer. I usually choose a theme that has sparked an interest in my classes or one I have been meditating over for some time. We usually explore several movement sequences during the workshop but may also include some movement observations with each other or clarify some aspects with the skeleton.
Workshops might be of interest to you if you are involved in a different movement modality such as yoga, Pilates, dance or martial arts and would like to find out more about the Feldenkrais Method and how it might complement your own practice. Depending on the length and theme, workshops can also be a good introduction to the Feldenkrais method.
I teach regular workshops in Brighton and elsewhere, both online and in person, and they vary in length from 3 to 5 hours. Please have a look at upcoming workshops and themes below.
A Feldenkrais workshop for Psychotherapists

Time: 10.00-13.00

I believe there are similarities between the Feldenkrais Method and Psychotherapy. In my understanding both approaches aim to help people become more aware of how they are, feel and act so that people can develop greater choice in the way they function. In the Feldenkrais Method the tool for this self-inquiry is movement. By observing and sensing our individual ways of holding ourselves and moving, we gain greater clarity of how we organise ourselves in various situations, including our work environment. Our work often dictates the movements we do and repeat; we might have to sit for a prolonged time or use our hands, arms and shoulders in a particular way. Over time this can lead to habituated movements that may no longer feel comfortable.
As sitting and the organisation of the shoulder girdle seem particularly pertinent in your profession, I intend to teach lessons to make these activities easier, more comfortable and more sustainable. There will be some movement explorations in sitting and in lying on the floor and you should be able to transfer the learning from this workshop into your daily life and work.
An increased bodily awareness in ourselves might also contribute to our presence in the room and our receptiveness when working with our clients.
Finding greater ease in moving our arms and shoulders
Date: Sunday 8 November
Venue: Unit 4, 26 Round Hill Street, Brighton BN2 3RG
Time: 10.00-13.00
Cost: £45.00
As we are using our arms and shoulders a lot in daily life it is easy to overwork these areas and store tension. Many of us feel uncomfortable in the shoulder girdle area from time to time.
In this workshop we will explore how we can learn to move out arms and shoulders with greater ease and fluidity. We will mostly work lying on the floor in different positions and the movements will be gently. We will connect the movements to our centre and find support from our lower body.
This workshop might be of interest to you if you sit a lot at work and predominantly use your hands and arms of if your work requires you to be very physically active with your arms and shoulders. It is also suited to anyone wanting to reduce tension and find easier and more comfortable ways to move their shoulder girdle.
"I found Sabine’s workshop really interesting and it gave me a better understanding of how to move in a better coordinated way. Especially in walking, which is where I was looking for easier ways to move. Having a few hours to really absorb the lessons made a big difference. I also appreciated the gentle pace of the morning and Sabine’s very calm presence, which made the workshop a very relaxing and grounding experience. Thanks Sabine!"
- Jude M, workshop participant
"I have had ongoing issues with foot pain which has been particularly noticeable when walking downstairs. I was therefore keen to attend Sabine's workshop ‘Making choices to move more easily and feel more comfortable’. I wasn't disappointed! Sabine guided us gently through various movements, encouraging us to notice how the movements felt and if we had a choice of doing them differently when they were not comfortable. I was amazed that by just becoming more self-aware of how I moved and making subtle changes there could be such a profound impact. After the workshop I was able to walk down the stairs of the studio with greater ease, stability and confidence. The workshop had a lasting impact and I often ask myself in everyday life now if I have a choice, if I could adjust things a little to move with greater ease."
